Thoughts on the U.S Bank Cash+ Visa Card?

Main Post:

So I’ve been looking for a cash back card to finish off my CC set-up, and I wanted that cash back card to maximize value on entertainment-style categories.

Per my last post, I felt capital one savor1 was perfect, but I sadly got declined and offered a version with no SUB and a small credit limit.

I’ve been researching to find a card that’ll help me maximize my purchases on movie tickets/sporting events/streaming/amusement parks. This broad category is a huge portion of my rec spending, and my chase sapphire reserve and Amex gold don’t touch these categories for bonuses.

I’d much rather earn 2-5% cash back on entertainment purchases than get 1x rewards on chase or Amex, or 1x miles on my Citi card.

This US Bank Cash + card piqued my interest.

  • the SUB is decent ($200 back on 1k spent first 4 months)
  • I can choose two categories to get 5% cash back up to 2k each quarter. These categories include: Movie theatres and streaming. These would almost certainly be the 2 I choose.

Sadly one of my biggest expenses in entertainment is sporting events, but there is no category for that, which is why I really wanted savor 1. Still, I think this is the better alternative.

What do you guys think? And is there a better card out there to maximize the entertainment side of spending?

US Bank is more stringent with applications than Capital One. Try looking for an Elan Max Cash provider instead at one of the regional banks
